Two earthquakes were recorded in the vicinity of Skagway, AK between 8pm and 9pm on Friday, October 27th
A pair of earthquakes rocked the Alaskan Panhandle and Southern Yukon this past Friday.
Just after 8pm on Friday, October 27th, a 4.7 magnitude quake was recorded by Earthquakes Canada, about 50 kilometers West – Southwest of Skagway, AK. Less than an hour later, at 8:44pm, a second quake registering 5.2 magnitude was recorded in the same region, about 63 kilometers West-Southwest of Skagway.
Some slight shaking was felt in Whitehorse and the surrounding area, while more significant tremors were felt in the areas around Skagway and Haines, Alaska. No damages or injuries have been reported on either side of the border.
