WHITEHORSE, YT – The Ross River RCMP have announced the recovery of three stolen firearms, two arrests, and a number of charges laid following the conclusion of two separate, unrelated investigations involving stolen firearms in the community.
Ross River RCMP say they’ve recovered two rifles that had been stolen during a Break and Enter in the community on November 26th last year.
Based on the results of their investigation into the case, Robert Power had been arrested on February 19th this year, and has been charged with possession of a weapon obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, weapons trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Separate from that case, RCMP say they had recieved word on November 30th last year that another rifle had been stolen in Ross River. This rifle has since been located, and RCMP had arrested and charged Michael Bondarchuk with weapons trafficking and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Both men had been arrested on February 19th, and held for their court appearances on February 20th. Both Bondarchuk and Power have since been released with conditions to reappear in a Ross River Court on March 6th.
