Whitehorse, YT – Thomas Scoffin is set to represent Yukon at the 2025 Montana’s Brier, marking his sixth appearance and fourth straight shot at Canada’s premier curling championship.
This year, Team Yukon features a key lineup change with Kerr Drummond joining as vice-skip, bringing experience from last year’s Brier with Alberta’s Aaron Sluchinski. Originally from Scotland, Drummond boasts international credentials, including World Junior silver and bronze medals.
“We think it’s a really good addition,” said Scoffin. “We’re really excited about it. We’ve been playing really well together in the chances that we’ve had to compete this year, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can do this year.”
Drummond joins returning teammates Trygg Jensen, who’s second, and lead Joe Wallingham, both entering their fifth Brier.
Coming off 2-6 finishes last year, Scoffin sees small adjustments and mental sharpness as the key to turning close losses into wins.
“The reality is that these games come down to a shot or two throughout the entire game,” Scoffin said. “We’re just looking to make a few small changes to make sure that we can get ourselves in the win column a little bit more than we have in the past couple of years.”
Team Yukon plays their first match against Alberta’s Team Jacobs tomorrow.
“We know that every game is going to be an absolute grind and we’ll have to see where the where the chips fall. Ultimately, the goal is just to go out there, play for each other, play for the Yukon and just enjoy it,” said Scoffin. “I mean, if we can do that, I think the results will follow.”
