Whitehorse, YT – A Leger poll commissioned by the Yukon Party shows the opposition carrying a sizable lead over the Yukon Liberals and a strong appetite for a territorial election.
The poll shows that 71 percent of respondents want an election immediately and indicates the Yukon Party leads with 41 percent support, followed by the NDP at 34 percent and the governing Liberals at 23 percent.
In a press release, Yukon Party Leader Currie Dixon says the numbers reflect public frustration with the current government.
“Yukoners have seen how NDP and Liberal policies have failed to address the affordability crisis, contributed to a lack of housing, and weakened our health care and education systems,” said Dixon in the release.
Cabinet Communications says the Yukon Liberals will continue focusing on making life better for Yukoners while Dixon “stays focused on his own personal ambitions.”
The Leger poll surveyed 500 Yukoners via landline and cell phone between January 23rd and 30th. It has a margin of error of ±4.4 percent, 19 times out of 20.
