Whitehorse, YT – Four people were arrested and large amounts of drugs and cash were seized in a Burnaby RCMP-led investigation into an interprovincial drug trafficking ring that allegedly supplied drugs from B.C. to the Yukon, Manitoba and local markets.
Following a four-month probe, officers executed search warrants on two properties in Coquitlam and Surrey on August 7th.
Among confiscated items were 9,555 Hydromorphone pills, many believed to be diverted prescriptions, while others are suspected to be counterfeit and laced with fentanyl.
Other seizures included over 12,500 Alprazolam pills, 1.15 kilograms of cocaine and 25.51 grams of ketamine.
Additionally, more than $80,000 in cash was recovered from the residences.
One of the suspects has a prior history of drug trafficking charges by Burnaby RCMP and faces additional trafficking charges in the Northwest Territories, along with another individual arrested in the recent bust.
The Burnaby RCMP plans to forward charges related to this investigation to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada once all evidence is reviewed and the case is complete.
This comes following an announcement from Federal RCMP investigators that three other men in Surrey were arrested who they believe to be connected to a trans-national organized crime group connected to Mexican drug cartels bringing cocaine into Canada.
