Whitehorse, YT – Last year, police reported 11,065 criminal incidents across the territory.
The Yukon Bureau of Statistics’ latest report on police-reported crime statistics in Yukon for 2023 highlights that there were 2,261 violent Criminal Code violations, 5,111 property crimes and 2,716 ‘other’ Criminal Code violations.
Also reported were 705 traffic violations and 272 Federal Statute violations.
These numbers mark a 3 percent rise in Yukon’s crime rate compared to 2022 but a 2.6 decrease compared to 2021.
Yukon’s 2023 crime rate is the third highest in the country behind the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
