WHITEHORSE, YT – Shortly before 7am this morning, Whitehorse RCMP, Yukon EMS, and Fire Departments from Whitehorse and Golden Horn had responded to reports of a single vehicle collision at the Lewes River Bridge along the Alaska Highway. On scene, it was determined a truck and trailer had missed the bridge and plunged into the river.
The RCMP has confirmed that the truck and trailer involved is not a commercial vehicle, however there’s currently no word on how many people may be involved, or their conditions.
The flow of traffic has not been impacted, but RCMP remain on scene at the Lewes River Bridge.
They have have urged all driver to reduce their speed when travelling though the area, and to be wary of work crews and emergency personnel when on the road.
