Whitehorse, YT – Dawson City RCMP says a motorcyclist died after a collision with an oncoming truck which resulted in a closure near kilometer 200 of the Dempster Highway on June 14th.
On Friday, June 14th, at 11:24 a.m., Dawson City RCMP responded to reports of a collision. Police arrived on the scene, with one officer arriving by helicopter, where they closed the highway to investigate the incident.
Police have determined that the motorcycle and truck were driving past each other in opposite directions when the motorcycle tipped over in front of the truck.
The Yukon Coroners Service identified the motorcyclist as Gregory James Thompson, a 58-year-old man from Toronto. Mr. Thompson was traveling with 19 motorcycles and an accompanying support vehicle.
Police offered their condolences to the family.
