WHITEHORSE, YT – Starting May 1st, an updated list of tipping fees, on par with what municipalities are charging, will be coming into effect at solid waste disposal sites in unincorporated Yukon.
Tipping fees will be coming into effect for the first time at solid waste disposal sites in Destruction Bay, Pelly Crossing and Champagne, and the new fees are also effective for facilities serving Deep Creek, Carcross, Mt. Lorne, Marsh Lake and Tagish.

In a bid to promote recycling and composting, tipping fees have been waived for organic waste, and recycling at government run facilities remains free of charge.
Commenting on the move, the Yukon Party says they are pleased with the Government’s decision to hold off on implementing the new fees for a month. The party and highlighted that Yukon Party MLA for Kluane, Wade Istchenko, had requested the delay in the Yukon Legislative Assembly at the end of March citing a lack of effective communication to rural Yukoners about the changes.
