Whitehorse, YT – Whitehorse-born hockey star Gavin McKenna has been named WHL Player of the Month for January, his second time earning the title this season.
The 17-year-old Medicine Hat Tigers forward racked up 26 points, 7 goals and 19 assists, in 11 games since returning from the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.
He also hit 200 career points in 118 games, making him the third-fastest player to reach the milestone in WHL history.
McKenna leads the league in assists and is second in scoring with 88 points, 27 goals and 61 assists, in 42 games.
He is riding a 26-game point streak and remains one of the top prospects for the 2026 NHL draft.
