WHITEHORESE, YT – Effective January 1st, 2025 the Federal tax on vaping products in the Yukon will double.
As per the Coordinated Vaping Product Taxation Agreement, which the Yukon had become a signatory of in May 0f 2024, the vape tax will be now calculated at $2.24 cents per two milliliters for the first 10mils of vaping substance, and then $2.24 for every 10 mils beyond that amount.
The tax on vaping substances in the Yukon is administered by the Canada Revenue Agency. Under the Coordinated Vaping Product Taxation Agreement, the Yukon Government had agreed not to implement it’s own tax on vape products, in exchange for 50% of taxation revenue collected though the Federal tax.
The Coordinated Vaping Product Taxation Agreement is an attempt to reduce youth vaping rates nationwide, it comes into effect in the Yukon, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island on New Year’s Day.
