WHITEHORSE, YT – Around 405lbs of recently harvested moose meat had been found dumped alongside a trail near kilometer 11 of the Top of the World Highway on Sunday, September 22nd
Conservation Officer’s say the meat had been de-boned, and was found within several large cotton game bags.
Yukon’s COs are now are seeking more information about an incident, and would like to speak with anyone who had been in the area between September 15th, though to the 22nd.
They’ve requested anyone who had planned or known of a hunt in the area, or who may have had spotted hunters or vehicles parked in the area to contact the TIPP line, or file an online report.
Conservation Officers are seeking to identify all harvests that a taken place in the region during this time period, including those on remote, or long distance trips. They’re also looking to identify kill sites where an animal had been de-boned, and have a particular interest in speaking to anyone who may have noticed hunting vehicles, or moose meat being transported on the George Black Ferry.
