Whitehorse, YT – The City of Whitehorse says they’ve seen an increase in abusive language and verbal harassment of staff at the Waste Management Facility since opening the Recycling Depot.
The depot opened on September 10th after Raven ReCentre closed their paper and packaging drop-off.
In a release from the city they say all staff work hard to provide public programs that improve the quality of life for Whitehorse residents. They add that they recognize that the transition can be challenging for some residents but everyone working in or using the city’s facilities deserves to be treated with respect.
“The City of Whitehorse will not tolerate aggressive conduct, including physical or verbal abuse, threats, and harassment,” reads the release. “If you engage in behaviour that is considered aggressive, you may be asked to leave or you may be banned from the premises.”
