WHITEHORSE, YT – The Yukon Coroner’s Service has confirmed the death of 67-year-old Bart Hollinger following a fatal collision with a moose on the Alaska Highway this past Saturday, September 21st.
The Coroner’s Service says that the collision had occurred near kilometer 1406 of the Alaska Highway, near the entrance to the Cowley Creek Subdivision.
Conservation officers were in the area early Saturday morning investigating reports of an injured moose, when they spotted Mr. Hollinger’s damaged car in the trees nearby.
An investigation confirmed the vehicle had been southbound when it struck a moose, resulting in his death.
The Coroner’s Service has offered their condolences to the family and friends of Bart Hollinger, and have thanked the Conservation Officers and RCMP members who had attended the scene.
