WHITEHORSE, YT – Yukon Conservation Officer Services have been investigating a suspected illegal Bison kill which was reported to them on August 25. They have concerns this animal was harvested outside the designated bison season, and they’re also offering a cash reward for information that leads to a conviction in the case.
Conservation Officers say, between 3:30pm and 4:00pm on Sunday, August 25th, a white pickup truck was spotted pulling onto the Alaska Highway from Aishihik Road with a fresh bison head aboard a trailer it had in tow.
COs describe the vehicle as a white newer model Chevrolet pickup with a gray camper, pulling a single axle trailer with a blue Side-by-side on it. The Bison head was noticed within the box of this Side-by-side.
The truck and trailer were last seen heading east on the Alaska Highway towards Whitehorse, between 3:30pm and 4pm on Sunday, August 25th.
The Yukon Conservation officer service is looking to speak with anyone who may have any information on this incident, and they have a particular interest in dash cam footage that may show the vehicle in question on the day of August 25th.
