Whitehorse, YT – Folks planning on using the Little Gold Creek border crossing this weekend will have to find a backup plan as the opening of the crossing has been briefly delayed due to weather.
Originally set to open today, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says the brief delay is due to adverse weather conditions prolonging the closure of the Top of the World Highway. CBSA expects to open the crossing on Sunday, May 19th.
Situated 105 km west of Dawson City, the entry will operate from 9 am to 7 pm, seven days a week, and close on Sunday, September 15th.
The port of entry sees the passage of over 11,000 travelers into Canada during the last summer season. This comes as the operating dates for the crossing were expanded this year marking a return to pre-pandemic operating times.
Travelers planning to use the crossing should be mindful of the time difference between Yukon and Alaska, with the territory being one hour ahead during the summer.
