Whitehorse, YT – The 44th annual Kilrich Native Hockey Tournament for 2024 wrapped up at the Canada Games Centre and Takhini Arena in Whitehorse on Sunday bringing an end to four days of hard-fought hockey matches among the 56 teams competing who came from all over the Yukon, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.
In the A Division LJ’s Sabres took the gold medal spot followed by the Selkirk Bears in second and the Blueberry Weekend Warriors in third place.
The K&D Outlaws took the champion spot in the B Division after a 4-2 match against the Deline Bears who took second place. In third place were the Tahltan Selects.
In the C Division, the Kwanlin Dun Predators took the top spot after another tight 4-2 match against the Fort Nelson Gongshow who placed second while the North Yukon Eagles ranked third.
After a close 3-2 match between the YT Cougars and the AFN/CAFN Storm the YT Cougars took the gold medal followed by the AFN/CAFN Storm with the Northern Auroras placing third.
The CAFN Bruins also had a hard-fought 4-3 match against the Royals placing them in the first place spot followed by the Royals and the Nationals taking the third place spot.
In the jamboree A division, the North Yukon Eagles took first after a 9-6 match against the Inuvialuit Falcons who took second while the Tahltan Selects took the bronze spot.
In the jamboree B division, the JMB Thunder took top spot followed by the Trondek Hwech’in Wolfpack and the CYFN CHiefs in third.
In the Youth Division, the Fort Nelson Bears took first place following an 8-4 showdown with the CYI Raiders who took silver with the Blueberry Weekend Warriors taking the bronze.
