WHITEHORSE, YT – Premier Ranj Pillai and Yukon First Nation’s Grand Chief Peter Johnston were among those in attendance as the first Yukon Forum of 2024 got underway on Friday, February 16th. They were accompanied at the Forum by other Yukon First Nations Chiefs and Yukon Government cabinet ministers.
Key accomplishments of this session included nation-to-nation talks on declining Chinook Salmon stocks, amendments to the Wildlife Act and the Canada-Yukon Nature Agreement, as well discussions on the continued support for the Yukon Residential School and Missing Children Project, and collaborative efforts to tackle the on-going Substance Use Health Emergency.
2024 is the 7th year since the Yukon Forum’s revitalization in 2017, and the February 2024 session is the Forum’s 28th meeting.
