I love sports. I love rock. I love lamp. Also, I don’t always love it when sports and music cross paths.
Think about it… how many times have you heard “Welcome to the Jungle” or Queen at a hockey game. I’m almost positive I’ve heard “We Are The Champions” more at sporting events than I ever have on the radio. Let’s loop in the Black Keys into this. How many times have you heard “Gold on the Ceiling” when a team is warming up? Or after a goal?
I’m not trying to be mean, being a PA person at a sporting event isn’t easy. However, it might be time to throw out that “Sports Music CD” that every arena seems to get when they open. And it’s not often you’d hear this… but New Jersey is actually doing something right… or at least the Devils are.
You see, the New Jersey Devils have an organ player. He plays jaunty tunes to keep the people entertained during hockey games and avoiding over use of Axel Rose.
Check it out. Definitely better than hearing “Paradise City” for the thousandth time.
