Whitehorse, YT – The Yukon RCMP released stats highlighting impaired driving incidents in the territory between January 1st and November 30th of this year.
The stats show that the Yukon RCMP responded to 555 incidents with charges being laid in 171 of those cases. Only 59 of the total incidents were initiated by the RCMP with the remaining 496 being reported by members of the public.
Of the charges laid 45 were initiated by the RCMP and the other 72 resulted from tips given by the public.
The RCMP says these stats highlight the importance of community engagement and the effectiveness of public cooperation when it comes to enforcing impaired driving laws.
