Usually we can get by with one band or person in a song. Usually. But sometimes the world of Rock surprises us with some really good duets. Let’s take a look at a few.
Hellraiser – Lemmy & Ozzy Osbourne
This was originally a Motorhead track, that was also recorded by Ozzy Osbourne around the same time. Both versions sound pretty much the same. Fast forward 30 years and we get THIS version. Somehow Lemmy and Ozzy’s voices compliment eachother, and the rest of the song didn’t need to change much.
Stevie Nicks – Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around
How do you establish yourself as a solo act outside one of the biggest bands ever? You recruit Tom Petty. It was a smart move by Stevie Nicks, as this song was a smash hit. It’s also interesting hearing Stevie Nicks harmonize with somebody other than the gang in Fleetwood Mac.
Alice Cooper – Billion Dollar Babies
Well Alice Cooper sure has been showing up a lot of the blog recently. This track isn’t officially a duet but it should be. Take a guess at who the other voice is on the track. I’ll wait…
Okay here’s the answer: Donovan.
Weird right? The story goes that Donovan was sharing a studio with Alice Cooper & he was just around to sing on the song. Simple as that.
That’s it this week. Till next time!
