Yukon RCMP renewing search for information in 1980s cold case
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon RCMP has released a sketch of a man found near the Takhini River on July 13, 1984, and they’re asking anyone who might recognize the man, or who might have any information about a possible missing person from 1964-74 in the Yukon to contact them via the Whitehorse Historical Case Unit at 867-667-5500
The man’s body was found near the Takhini River, approximately 5km from Kusawa Lake. Forensic analysis conducted at the time determined the remains to be from a Caucasian male, between 55-65 years old. The cause of death is unknown, and is estimated to have happened sometime between 1964 – 1974. RCMP suspect that the remains were submerged in Kusawa Lake or the Takhini River for an unknown amount of time before they were discovered. DNA from the remains had been uploaded to the National DNA Data Bank but as of yet, no match has been found.
RCMP Investigators spoke to residents in the area about local gravesites and past missing people, but were unable to gather any more information relating to the man.
