The first phase of the City of Whitehorse’s modernized transit routes started over the long weekend.
These additional routes expand total service hours for the community, enhance network efficiency and timeliness, and provide transportation alternatives for passengers, including a new route in Whistle Bend.
Further enhancements to routes south of the city, including the Riverdale and Copper Ridge areas, as well as another route, will be constructed in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Route 5 diversion, which was put in place owing to the landslides on Robert Service Way, remains in effect and the Route 5 bus will continue to use the Alaska Highway, but this is not expected to affect the timetable of the new route.
